Here's the Deal on Dirt

TOPSOIL – The Planning Commission discussed a change in the SALDO for topsoil. The original proposal would have required developers to haul in dirt to provide a minimum of 9 inches of topsoil and 18 inches of subsoil on lots that were deficient. The discussion over several meetings determined that this requirement is too costly for developers. Instead, the Planning Commission recommended that topsoil and subsoil already existing on the lot be used, and eliminated the requirement to haul in additional dirt.

Gone to the Dogs

The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed Shrewsbury Township animal control ordinance at last weeks meeting. The Commission voted unanimously to send the ordinance to the Board of Supervisors for further action. The new ordinance is intended to provide means for solving animal nuisance problems without introducing needless restriction on pet ownership.

More to the Township meetings than reported

Today's article  by Barb Krebs in the YDR about this weeks township meeting reported facts accurately, but what she does not report are the reasons for resident concern, which include:

1. The official minutes of the Dec 8th meeting of the Shrewsbury Borough Council:"Cynthia Taylor stated she is in favor of Shrewsbury Township becoming a member of the Southern Regional Police and she is working toward that goal." .  Ms Deleone (Taylor) was evasive when asked to confirm or deny the statement.

2. An unfavorable official report from the New Freedom Borough Council on the operation of the Southern Regional Police Commission.

3. No public information from the three supervisors who have been "investigating alternatives" on their activities.
At this meeting, the supervisors did agree that police services would not be an issue this year.

It is unfortunate that meetings have degenerated to name-calling and insults rather than working together to do township business.
